To calculate the purity level of 22-karat gold, you just divide 22 by 24 (as 24-karat is 100%) pure. This comes out to be 0.9166. When this is multiplied by 100, it becomes 91.66% – which is the purity of your 22-karat gold.

Most real gold is stamped with a hallmark that signifies the karat weight of jewellery or other forms of gold.

If you are buying gold that isn’t stamped, this means that there is no guarantee that the piece you are purchasing is real. For example, gold-plated jewellery items have karat stamps but it only reflects the purity of gold plates and not the entire piece.
